ABC's Good Morning America Explores Dolls and Race

Now that we have Barack Obama in the White House, questions still remain about race. In the 1940s, the nation was captivated by an electrifying experiment by legendary sociologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark. They asked black children about two dolls, one white and one black. Then all black children interviewed picked the white doll over the black.

Good Morning America just aired an interesting story about the status of African American children and their preference of black or white dolls. Check out the site and video

African American girls, in particular, disturbingly are still feel that white dolls are prettier according to the program. However, African American boys feel that both dolls are pretty. Go figure! We have a lot to do to make African American girls feel good about themselves and beautiful. What can we do???
